He’s only been setting up shop there for about two months. After the shooting, he said he didn’t know one of his faithful customers lost their life until he saw it on Facebook. He tells WVTM 13 he even remembers his order—a 10-piece party wing fried soft.“There were like 30 something shell casings right here and another 30 something over there,” Dennis said. “So around like 60 something shots for sure.”Seven of those shots hit “motorcity_eatin” food truck.“All I heard was shots ring off,” Dennis said, “and we ducked down and got on the floor, and I heard shots coming through the truck.”Dennis said he had four hungry customers waiting in line when the shots were fired.“I came out here to make sure people were alright,” he said. “When I looked, I saw the other food truck over here and there was a guy in front of the food truck shot. As I was walking back, I had seen a guy over here laid out, and one of the guys who was ordering food off the truck—he said he was EMT—so he rushed over there but he said he was dead.”Dennis said he still can’t believe one of his customers died.“Bullets don’t have names,” he said. “It was a lot of people out here.”Dennis said it’s a blessing no one else was hit.“I didn’t expect it to happen over here on this side of town,” he said. “I was kind of shocked. I’ve seen fights and stuff, but I’ve never seen anything like that happen.’He never imagined his life or business would be threatened.“We lost money,” Dennis said, “but that’s not more important than the lives that were lost. I can always come back out here and set back up. People can’t get their loved ones back.”Dennis said he lost his own brother to gun violence, so he wants to be there to support his customer’s family. He even offered to cook for them for the repass once the man is laid to rest. Dennis said he’ll be back open Saturday night.
