Free mini-golf, Carousel rides kick off big car show weekend in Pottstown

POTTSTOWN — If you plan to spend the Labor Day weekend at home in the Pottstown area, there will be no shortage of things to do, especially if you like cars.

On Friday, the European car show organizers for L’oe Show have reserved both Manatawny Green Mini-Golf and the Carousel at Pottstown for free carousel rides and mini-golf from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Food trucks will provide the victuals. Both facilities can be accessed from West High Street or West King Street.

On Saturday morning, the Pottstown FARM will be back in Smith Family Plaza, next to the borough hall on the 100 block of High Street,  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Later on Saturday, the year’s last Pottstown Nights Car Show, sponsored by the Red Horse Motoring Club, will be closing High Street in downtown from College Drive to Evans Street for their monthly car show.  This will be your last chance for the year to enjoy their closed street show in town.

And on Sunday, for its fourth year here in Pottstown, the L’oe [‘low’] Show 2024 will take over High Street from College Drive to Evans Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All the downtown events feature food trucks and downtown restaurants will be open as well.

The L’oe Show has events and pop-ups on High Street from Thursday evening through Sunday, but the car show and closure are for Sunday.

Organizers promise more than 40 vendors and stores and 600 Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche vehicles.

Prior to Sunday’s big show are several lead-up events. It kicks off with an event Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at SlyFox Brewery at the Circle of Progress.

On Friday, there is a fun ‘talking pace’ bike ride starting at 7:30 a.m. at 843 Queen St. The ride is 18 miles, totally flat. It’s mainly a fine stone gravel trail, but people will be riding road bikes and vintage mountain bikes. Then there is a brunch event from 10 a.m. to noon at Coventry Parlor, 653 Laurelwood Road in North Coventry.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be a “laid back Cars and Coffee” at the North Coventry Fire House, 144 W. Schuylkill Road, with plenty of parking, and food options.

From 12 to 2:30, head over to the global headquarters of the Eastwood Company, 263 Shoemaker Road, with lots of space for parking, and their retail store will be open with special deals.

L’oe Show on Sunday has featured many special prototype and race cars, even world-exclusive unveilings of never-before-seen cars.

Previous Cars included the USA unveiling of the Mk8 Golf R, the VW Golf A59 from Volkswagen Classic’s collection in Wolfsburg, the world unveiling of the Volkswagen Motorsport TCR Mk8 Prototype, Audi’s Le Mans winning LMP1 car (Tom Kristensen’s record-setting car) and more.
