Unique Neo-Classical Yacht Finds New Owner After a Steep Price Drop

Magnolia I looks like it has emerged straight from the Golden Era of yachting, yet it boasts all the qualities and benefits of a newly-built vessel: that’s the magic of so-called neo-classical designs allowing folks to enjoy a trip down memory lane onboard contemporary yachts.

Yachting enthusiasts often have to choose between fresh models displayed at prestigious industry events and old, venerable vessels with the allure of a bygone era. With yachts like Magnolia I, there’s no need to choose. Although built in 2022, this contemporary pleasure craft looks like a traditional trawler and flaunts the majestic silhouette of a Golden Era yacht. In other words, it combines the best of both worlds.

Magnolia I is a pleasure craft for those who aren’t afraid to stand out. Its unique design and unusual dark green hull will stand out in the Mediterranean and the Bahamas, and this long-range, shallow-draft boat is perfectly equipped to handle both. The name comes from its builder, Magnolia Yachts, a relatively young Turkish shipyard established by the fourth generation of the reputable Yardimci Shipping Group. The 24-meter (79-foot) trawler was the shipyard’s first project, delivered just two years ago.

Magnolia I changed hands this month, boasting two major advantages: low engine hours and an ongoing shipyard warranty (available for the rest of 2024). Still, it wasn’t an easy sale. Toward the end of last year, Magnolia I’s price tag indicated a steep price drop of €600,000 ($668,500), which led to the yacht’s last known asking price of only €3,6 million ($4 million). Considering how young this trawler is and how unique it is, it was a real steal.

The compact size of under 100 feet puts Magnolia I in the pocket explorer category, which has become increasingly popular over the years. These smaller explorer yachts combine the capabilities of large expedition vessels with the increased flexibility and maneuverability of compact yachts.

This Turkish trawler can comfortably cover up to 1,800 nautical miles (3,333 km), powered by two Cummins 610HP QSM11 engines. In terms of accommodations, a generous three-cabin layout is designed to welcome up to six guests. There’s also accommodation for three crew members.

The classic-style mahogany hull is, by far, Magnolia I’s most striking feature, but the spacious sundeck and flybridge are equally impressive. Guests have several al-fresco dining areas to enjoy, as well as access to two tenders. Inside, the stunning neo-classical design truly shines: satin lacquer, light oak accents, and a calming blue color scheme create an airy, sophisticated version of the gentlemen’s yachts.

Unlike many of today’s new models, the Magnolia I boasts truly timeless aesthetics, and it was also built to last for decades. These two qualities are enough to make this a successful yacht and a smart investment for its new owner.
