Crash involving dump truck shuts down Route 113 in Milford for several hours – 47abc

MILFORD, Del. –

Police say the crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of Mastens Circle and Route 113 southbound. Officers arrived at the scene to find a large dump truck carrying asphalt millings rolled over on top of a Kia Telluride. Investigation revealed that the dump truck was driving southbound on Route 113, approaching Mastens Circle, when the truck’s brakes reportedly malfunctioned and the driver was not able to control the truck. The Kia, who had the green light, was driving eastbound on Mastens Circle, heading towards the Milford Plaza shopping center. The truck allegedly hit the Kia in the intersection before trying to swerve left, causing the truck to flip and spill its contents all over the roadway.

The driver of the Kia was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation and was later released.

The driver of the dump truck was cited with numerous traffic violations.

Police say Route 113 was closed between Airport Road and Milford-Harrington Highway for roughly four hours.
