Armie Hammer Is Selling His Truck Because He ‘Can’t Afford the Gas Anymore’

Armie Hammer has revealed that he’s selling his 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck because he can’t afford to pay for gas anymore.

The disgraced actor, who has faced accusations of sexual misconduct including cannibalism fantasies, recently shared a video on Instagram expressing his frustration with how much his truck costs to run. “So, I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now, this is my truck,” he shared. “I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself. ‘Cause I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time and I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax.”

He stressed that the video wasn’t intended to be a commercial for CarMax. “Since being back in L.A., I have put about 400 or 500 dollars worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it,” he continued. “I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

Hammer said that he has some great memories with the truck, but he’s come to terms with letting it go. “I got a new car. It’s tiny, it’s a hybrid,” he continued. “I’m probably gonna put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month, and this is it. … Here’s to new beginnings. It’s my birthday tomorrow. So, August 28, I’ll be starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”

Hammer, perhaps best known for his performance opposite Timothée Chalamet in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name, withdrew from the public eye in 2021 after he was accused of sharing disturbing sexual fantasies with multiple women. In leaked messages, he shared fantasies of rape and cannibalism. He has since been forthcoming about the allegations in various interviews, including a recent appearance on Club Random with Bill Maher, in which he spoke about the LAPD investigation into him.

“They investigated me for two and a half years in a time where if they could have nailed someone like me, it would’ve been such a boon for the LAPD,” he said. “After two and a half years, they came to the conclusion that there was no evidence of any crime had been committed, and then the other thing is there was a full psychological evaluation that I had to go through in the Cayman Islands because of the custody battle.”
