Suspect of stolen truck kills passenger after fleeing from Cleveland County deputy

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect in a stolen truck killed a passenger after he fled from a deputy on Wednesday morning.The female passenger died after the driver crashed in the Little Axe area. The sheriff’s office said it started as a traffic stop but then the driver took off and disappeared from the deputies.When deputies found the man again, it turned deadly.After 2 a.m. on Wednesday, a Cleveland County deputy saw a pickup truck headed down Highway 9 with obscured license plates and a broken taillight. The deputy pulled him over near Wildfire Drive.The driver and the female passenger both gave him fake names. The deputy soon realized the vehicle was stolen and called for backup. Deputies chased after the driver until he turned onto Alameda Street, but because of the dust kicked up from the road, he lost sight of the driver and called off the pursuit.That wasn’t the end of it.Five minutes later, a crash was reported near 192nd Avenue and Alameda Street, about two miles from the original traffic stop.
