NHTSA Issues Sweeping Vehicle Recalls Across Multiple Car Manufacturers

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has sounded the alarm, issuing multiple vehicle recalls affecting a range of car manufacturers. The recalls span across manufacturers from Toyota to Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Ford, Bombardier, BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors, and Nissan, touching on a variety of safety concerns.

Toyota’s Airbag and Instrument Panel Issues

Toyota is grappling with two significant recalls. Nearly 1 million of its vehicles are being recalled due to a risk of a short circuit in the Occupant Classification System sensor. This glitch might prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying correctly. Additionally, Toyota is recalling 12,575 of its 2022-2023 Corolla Cross SUVs due to an instrument panel issue that could also affect airbag deployment.

Mercedes-Benz Recalls Over Fuel Pump and Leak Issues

Mercedes-Benz has two separate recalls in place. Over 79,000 vehicles from 2021 to 2024 models are being recalled due to a fuel pump issue, which could lead to a loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash. A smaller batch of 2023 and 2024 SUVs are being recalled for a potential fuel and oil leak, which could create a road hazard or trigger a fire.

Engine Compartment Fire Risk for Kia Sorento

Kia is recalling over 79,000 of its 2011 Sorento SUVs. The recall centres on a risk of an engine compartment fire, posing a significant safety concern for drivers and passengers alike.

Ford and Bombardier Recalls

Ford is recalling nearly 18,000 of its 2023 trucks due to a steering wheel clock spring issue that could deactivate the driver’s frontal airbag. Bombardier, on the other hand, is recalling some of its motorcycles for issues related to the rearview mirror lens and fuel pump.

BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors, and Nissan

BMW is recalling a few of its 2024 BMW 430i convertibles due to a risk of oil leaks that could lead to a fire. Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors, and Nissan have announced recalls for various issues ranging from potential short circuits to structural concerns that could affect passenger safety.
