The Springport Fire District has announced the purchase of a new tanker truck for the Union Springs Fire Department, enhancing their capabilities, especially in rural areas.
According to Finger Lakes News Radio, it’ll have a dual-role functionality. The tanker, equipped with a 3,000-gallon tank and a 1,500 GPM (gallons per minute) pump, can operate both as a pumper and a tanker, making it a versatile addition to the department’s resources.
The investment of over $600,000 in the new vehicle aligns with the department’s strategy of renewing its fleet every 30 years.
This new tanker will replace a 1995 International truck and is expected to be delivered in late summer 2025, ensuring a long service life.
