Here are 12 events (one for each month) to put on your calendar to make sure not to miss. There are various events from art and culture to music and sports.

Farmers Insurance Open: Top professional golfers will make their way to Torrey Pines for one of the first PGA tournaments of the year from Jan. 24 to Jan. 27. Redwood: Broadway star and the voice of Elsa in Disney’s “Frozen” films and television shows, Idina Menzel, will be making her La Jolla Playhouse premiere in the musical play “Redwood” starting Feb. 13. This play follows Menzel’s character Jesse, a businesswoman, mother and wife as she goes on a journey into a Northern California forest. Women’s Gold Cup Final: The first-ever CONCACAF W Gold Cup soccer tournament is taking place in 2024 and San Diego will host the final at Snapdragon Stadium on March 10. Twelve women’s national teams will compete in group play in February (San Diego will host Group B games on Feb. 21, 24 and 27) for a chance to make it to the final and be crowned the 2024 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup champion. Chicano Park Day: The 54th Chicano Park Day will be on April 20. This yearly event celebrates the historic park in Barrio Logan that was almost a California High Patrol station, but the community and Chicano activists protested and occupied the area until an agreement was made with city and state officials to create a park in 1970. Chicano Park Day is a free, family event that includes music and cultural performances, food vendors, art displays, educational sessions, lowriders and more. April 20. World Design Capital 2024: Every two years the World Design Organization puts on the World Design Capital, a regional year-long showcase of design via seminars, speaking engagements, experiences, conferences and more. Throughout the year there will be various events in San Diego and Tijuana. One of the showcase events is the World Design Festival from May 1 to May 5. It will feature interactive workshops, projects from designers, speaker engagements and more. It will take place at the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT). May 1-5. San Diego County Fair: In 2024, the San Diego County Fair is going old school with music, games, rides and more. This year’s theme is, “Let’s go retro,” with theme days and entertainment from the 50s through 90s. There will also be the traditional fair rides, unique food options and farm animals. Comic-Con: Cosplayers and fans will gather at the San Diego Convention Center for the 2024 Comic-Con International from July 24 to July 28 (including preview night). This annual celebration of comics and pop culture has panels, exhibitions, movie and television showings, outdoor activations, a masquerade ball and more. Jason Mraz: Sing along to “I’m Yours,” “ I Feel Like Dancing” and many more hits from Jason Mraz and the SuperBand, along with the San Diego Symphony, at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on Aug. 11. This show will be the only one in San Diego on this tour and one of two shows that Mraz and the band will be playing with a symphony orchestra. MCAS Miramar Air Show: For those feeling the need for speed, the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show is the ticket. From Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, the biggest military air show in the world, according to the Marines, will take place. This yearly event traditionally spotlights aerial performances, military vehicles, old school aircraft, flight simulators and more. Iron Maiden: The legendary English heavy metal band Iron Maiden brings its Future Past World Tour to North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre on Oct. 4. The band is slated to perform songs from their most recent studio album “Senjutsu” and 1986’s “Somewhere In Time.” The San Diego tour is also the first U.S. stop on the world tour. It starts in Australia in September and then goes to New Zealand and Japan, before landing in San Diego. Oct. 4. North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, 2050 Entertainment Circle, Chula Vista. Breeders’ Cup: One of horse racing’s premier events is returning to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club from Nov. 1 to Nov. 2. The Breeders’ Cup is a yearly horse racing competition over two days and it rotates around the top race tracks in the U.S. Approximately $31 million is paid out in winnings and prizes, according to the Breeders’ Cup. San Diego International Auto Show: Interested in buying a new car or seeing what the cars of the near future will look like? Take a trip to the San Diego International Auto Show. This annual event typically takes place the last Friday of December to the first Monday of January at the San Diego Convention Center. This year it is scheduled for Dec. 29 to Jan. 1. Some of features of the show include an outdoor area to test drive new cars not on the market yet, and indoor electric vehicle test track and a mobility zone to help those with special needs.
