New BMW models coming in 2023
New BMW X2 and iX2
The new BMW X2 is here, although not as you may know it. This alternative to the cars such as the Audi Q3 Sportback is now a swoopy coupe-esque SUV, and it’s available as an all-electric model for the first time as well.
It shares most of its oily bits with the BMW X1 and iX1, meaning it has dual motors and 313hp. It also has exactly the same 266 miles of range as the iX1. If it’s a hot petrol model you’re after, the X2 M35i has a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 300hp.
Step inside and you’ll find basically the same interior as the X1 as well. Petrol models start from £39,365, while the EV will set you back £56,540.
New BMW X1 M35i
A new, more sporty version of the BMW X1 has been announced. It’s called the M35i, and it goes on sale in November with prices starting from £45,995.
Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300hp and 400Nm of torque, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds. You also get lowered, stiffened suspension to help it out in the bends.
Helping the M35i stand out against the standard car is a sporty bodykit with deeper front and rear bumpers, quad tailpipes and unique alloy wheels. There’s also the option of sports seats and red trim around the interior.
New BMW i7 M70
A performance version of BMW’s electric limo has been revealed. The new i7 M70 has 660hp and 1,100Nm of torque from it’s revised dual electric motors, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds. That’s not as fast as a Tesla Model S Plaid, however it is slightly quicker than the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53.
A luxury barge like this is never going to handle like a hot hatch, but BMW has revised the suspension to keep things in check while you hurtle down a country road. It has adaptive air suspension, active roll stabilisation and rear-wheel-steering to help it change direction with more zest.
You get a 101kWh battery pack with 348 miles of range, over 30 miles less than the standard i7, and that’s if you can keep your right foot under control. The i7 M70 will go on sale in the Summer.
New BMW X5 and X6 M Competition
The new BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition are both available to order now, with first deliveries expected in the spring. Prices start from £123,350 for the X5 and £126,050 for the X6.
Both of these SUVs gat a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engines with 625hp and 750Nm of torque, and both can do 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.
Beyond the engine, these SUVs have uprated suspension and more aggressive-looking styling than the standard X5 and X6.
New BMW XM Label Red
Also coming in 2023 is the most powerful M car ever made. The XM Label Red has a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. Combined, they produce 748hp and 1,000Nm of torque. That’s 95hp and 200Nm more than the standard BMW XM.
It’s also enough power to launch the Label Red from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds, compared to 4.3 seconds in the standard XM. The top speed can also be increased from 155mph to 180mph with the M Driver’s package.
As the name suggests, the Label Red gets plenty of red accents. You get red trim around the grille, windows and wheels, as well as red badging around the car. This car is limited to 500 units worldwide, and it’ll set you back £170,860. That’s £22,000 more than the standard XM.
New BMW Models coming in 2024
New BMW M3 and M3 Touring
The BMW M3 is due for a slight update in 2024, with some slightly tweaked front-end styling. If you look closely, you’ll see the slightly revised headlights and tweaked front bumper.
The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six isn’t going anywhere, although it may produce slightly more than the 510hp you get in the current car.
The main changes are expected to come inside with some new infotainment software. This could be similar to the system found in the new BMW 5 Series which has been made easier to use.
New BMW 4 Series and M4
Facelifted versions of both the BMW 4 Series and M4 have been spotted testing, and these coupes will get tweaked styling and some new technology.
Those massive grilles are here to stay, with the main changes being new headlights and a revised bumper. The sporty M4 gets similar updates, and that car looks like it’ll get new tail lights.
The M4 will retain its 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine, however power could be upped from 510hp to around 550hp. Expect to see the new 4 Series and M4 to be revealed later this year.
New BMW i4
As well as the ferocious M4, the all-electric i4 is also getting a minor facelift. It looks as though it’ll get similar styling tweaks to that car, with some slightly re-shaped headlights and a tweaked bumper.
The motor and battery options are likely to stay the same as the current car, however there may be some tweaks under the skin to improve efficiency and eke some more miles out of each charge.
As for other changes, expect to see some new infotainment software, as well as a few different trim options throughout the cabin.
New BMW M2 CS
Hot on the heels of the new BMW M2’s debut, a hardcore CS version has already been spotted testing. You’ll probably have to wait around a year for this model and it looks like it’ll be a bit more aggressive-looking than the standard car.
You can see through the camouflage that it has a deeper front splitter, bigger side skirts and a large ducktail spoiler, as well as some big alloy wheels. You can also expect some additional sporty trinkets on the interior.
Power-wise, the CS is likely to retain the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six as the standard car, although it could be tuned to get close to the 510hp you get from the BMW M3 Competition.
New BMW 1 Series and M135i
BMW’s smallest car is getting an update later this year, and a new version of the hot M135i is also coming. These spy shots show a car with quad tailpipes, meaning it could be a more powerful M140i version.
The current M135i has 306hp from it’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. This new car could have as much as 320hp. As for the standard 1 Series, expect to see the same range of 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrol engines on offer.
Styling-wise, the new 1 Series will get a series of subtle tweaks, which is likely to include revised bumpers and new lights.
New BMW 3.0 CSL
The BMW 3.0 CSL is a limited-run special edition built to pay homage to the classic 3.0 CSL from the 1970s. It gets the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six from the M4, only it makes an extra 10hp giving it 560hp overall.
You also get a manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive, as well as a completely bespoke bodykit. Just 50 of these cars will be built and production has already begun.
New BMW M5
The seventh-generation BMW M5 is also on its way, and development is well underway. Prototypes have been spotted out and about a few times now.
It’s highly likely that this new super-saloon will get a plug-in hybrid setup, possibly shared with the XM SUV. This would mean a 4.4-litre V8 paired with an electric motor, with up to 650hp and 800Nm of torque possible.
Expect to see the M5 saloon debut in 2024, but if you can’t wait that long, why not see our renders to see how we think the next M5 will look?
Updated BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is due to get an upgrade in the first half of 2024. The compact four-door coupe will get a slight tweak with the design and that doesn’t mean any large nostrils. ‘
Inside, the cabin will also be evolution rather than revolution. Much like the X1, the 2 Series Gran Coupe will likely get a simplified layout with less buttons and large screens.
To join the petrol and diesel engines, mild hybrid versions are due as well to help with efficiency. Click the button to see other spy shots.
New BMW M5 Touring
There hasn’t been a BMW M5 Touring since the V10 E61 from the mid 2000s. This is about to change though as BMW has now confirmed that the new M5 will be available as an estate.
This move makes sense after the launch of BMW’s first ever M3 Touring this year. Styling details at the front remains the same as the saloon, and it’s set to retain the quad tailpipes at the rear as well.
Under the bonnet will be the same V8 hybrid system as the saloon as well, although it may be a touch slower thanks to added weight. If this car does come to fruition, expect to see it launched at the beginning of 2025.
New BMW models coming in 2025
New BMW Vision Neue Klasse
This is the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, and it’s a concept car which builds on the design of the i Vision Dee from last year. This retro-looking saloon is a look ahead to what a future BMW 3 Series could look like.
As well as having a wild-looking exterior, the Neue Klasse has plenty of revolutionary tech on the inside. There’s a huge panoramic display across the bottom of the windscreen, as well as a central touchscreen.
Under the skin there’s some new battery technology which could boost range by up to 30% over existing BMW EVs. Expect to see a road-ready model based on this concept in 2025.
New BMW M8 replacement
The next BMW M8 could be fully electric using BMW’s next generation platform. In theory, this means it could have up to 1,360hp and four electric motors.
These exclusive renders give you an idea of what this new car will look like, taking heavy inspiration from the i Vision Dee concept car.
